This is a semi-abstract painting inspired by swimming in the waters around Scolt Head Island on the North Norfolk coast. It has that magical quality capturing the essence of place. This painting is about that feeling of connection and a reminder of all the times I found myself bobbing about in the water.
Created using layers of glazing it has a rich Prussian blue, almost black depth to it, and would be well suited for a darker wall or favourite nook to hang. With its distinct watery quality it captures the movement of the sea, and invites you to dive in and enjoy the cool solitude.

This contemporary painting was inspired by the long stretch of dunes reaching along the coastline from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham beach, perched high on the dune ridge so as to look straight out to sea. Its simplicity evokes a meditative and calm quality for the viewer. Painted using a layering of glazes to build up a richness and depth to the sweeping strokes of Marram grasses and sky.
